Has the Mobile Age Come to an End?

Artificial intelligence is nothing new. Researchers have been trying to solve the puzzle of creating human-like intelligence in machines for decades. But it’s only in recent years that they’ve started to make real progress towards realizing this incredible goal. Just in the last few years we’ve seen the emergence of chat bots, self-driving cars, smart appliances, and smarter search engines. They all rely heavily on artificial intelligence. Not only are we seeing huge strides in the AI industry but we’re seeing more and more real world applications of these technologies and they’re changing the way we live and the way we do business. It appears that the mobile age which started in the 80s is finally coming to an end, and it’s being replaced with the Age of AI.

While funding for tech startups has been down all across the board, AI startups have been a glaring exception. In the first half of 2016 more than 200 AI-focused startups combined to raise almost one and a half billion dollars in funding. As the AI age gets underway, here are a few ways you can expect to see artificial intelligence impacting your day-to-day life:

  • Social media. Social media platforms are investing in AI to enhance user experience and customize each person’s experience with social media.
  • Mobile digital assistants. You’ll soon see a next-generation digital assistant that’s far superior to Siri or Cortana.
  • Self-driving cars. That’s right, autonomous vehicles are just around the corner, there are just a few regulations and hurdles to overcome and then they’ll be on our streets.
